The Astrology match is considered vital for a couple’s vitality, health, wealth, longevity and children etc. A good kundali match is considered the promise of a long and happy married life.
Why is Horoscope Compatibility (Horoscope Matching )Important?
Vedic Shastras (Vedic epics) consider the man and wife as a single being. The destiny of one becomes the destiny of the other. The couple must live their entire lives together. For such an important decision it is important to make sure that all factors are favourable, and through Kundali matching one can assure a fair degree of compatibility.
If the janmapatris or the kundalis of the two people do not match and the astrology match is unfavourable then it is certain that the married couple will face a lack of harmony. There may be troubles and mishappenings that may make the married life difficult or the couple may not be able to adjust to each other. That is why astrological compatibility is considered an important parameter.
In India it is said that it doesn’t matter if nothing else matches, the Kundli match must be good. This belief has roots in the vedic epics and has been tried and tested through the ancient ages.
Kundali Melapak ( Relationship Horoscope )
Kundali matching ( Kundli Melapak or Kundali Melapak ) uses matching on 8 different factors. This technique of match making is almost 3,000 years old. It uses the various aspects of a natal chart, specially the placement of Moon to judge a match for the two people.
In this system scores are assigned to each factor in the natal chart. The scores differ according to the importance of the factor. The maximum combined score that can be achieved is 36. This is called the 36 Guna matching, or ‘Guna Milan’. It is nearly impossible to achieve a score of 36 in any two charts. According to astrologers a minmum score of 18 is considered essential to a match. Below this score the marriage is not recommended.
Some astrologers consider ‘Kuja dosha’ or ‘Manglik Dosha‘ (Mars Blemish) another important factor in the success of a marriage. If either one of the partners have this Manglik Dosha (What is Manglik Dosha?) then the match is considered very unfavourable. In this case both the partners must have the Manglik Dosha in order to cancel out the Dosha (blemish) in each other’s charts.
This ancient technique of kundali matching ( horoscope matches ) is considered relevant even today, because technology may change, but basic human nature remains the same. The kundli match uses the natal chart as a guide to a native’s nature, aspirations and destiny and matches them. A match is favourable only when a certain amount of compatibility is found between these.Kuta Point System of Horoscope Compatibility

The Varna Kuta judges primarily the mental compatibility between the couple. In this method the Moon Rashis (signs) are divided in 4 categories. In a Kundali match the Kshatriya boy is compatible with Vaishya and Shudra girl.

This magnetism helps them to understand each others better and helps them lead a happier married life. In this kuta if the moon of the female feels magnetism towards the male one point is given. If the moon of the male also feels attraction towards the female one more point is given. This kuta yields a maximum score of two. This kuta also determines who will be dominant person in the relationship.
Vasya kuta divides the moon position of the person in five different categories. The categories represent the differences in power positions.Vasya kuta uses different animals to classify people. In this system it is preferred to have a male of a higher classification and the girl of a lower classification. The classifications are as under.Manav or Human . Human are said to be individualistic and have control. They have an independent opinion and the power to discriminate. They are said to be the highest in the Vasya kuta system.Vanchar or Creature of the Jungle . The people belonging to theis class are said to be powerful and masterly. Tara matching takes in account the health and longevity of the couple post marriage. This Kuta is considered quite important in vedic astrology and is awarded a score of 3 points. A marriage which agrees on the Tara aspect yields a long and healthy association for the two people.
Tara or birth star of the two people is compared for compatibility. These Taras are numbered from are divided into nine categories are named Janam, Sampat, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyari, Sadhaka, Vadha, Mitra and Ati-Mitra. The Taras are counted from the birth star of the girl to that of the boy. If on division from each other the remainder comes to 3, 5, 7, then Vedic astrology says that the Tara is not auspicious and the marriage match is not favourable on this count. If the remainder is 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 then the Indian astrology considers the Tara auspicious.
This kuta considers the sexual compatibility and mutual love of the two persons. In this system the 27 Nakshatras are divideded into two groups. 14 Male Yonis, and 13 female Yonis. The Yonis are named according to an animal that is said to govern the nature of the person. The Male Yoni Nakshatras are, Ashwini, Bharani, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Swati, Jyestha, Mula, Purvashada, Uttarashada, Shravana, and Purva Bhadrapada. The rest of the nakshatras are said to have female yonis. The division of male and female is for vedic astrology purposes only. There may be males with Nakshatras of female Yonis and females with nakshatras of male yonis.
The animal that governs the Yonis is said to impart the nature to the native too. For example, people belonging to the Nakshatra Vishakha and Chitra have the tiger yoni. This means that the natives born under this nakshatra may be wild.
This kuta is considered compatible if the two people are born in Nakshatras with Yonis that are not naturally antagonistic towards each other. For example the marriage match would be considered good on this count if both the partners have the tiger yoni, but if one of the persons has the serpent Yoni, and the other mongoose then the match is not considered good.
The vedic kuta matching system of marriage astrology gives Yoni a maximum score of 4. A match on this Kuta shows sexual compatibilty as well as mutual love of the partners for each other.
Vedic Astrology says that the Graha Maitri Kuta is one of the most important parts of a Marriage match. Graha maitri is the friendship between Rashi lords of the Moonsigns of the two people. It is related to progeny, mental qualities and mutual love of the two people. In this kuta thw two rashi lords can be friends, enemies or neutral to each other.
If the rashi lords are friends then the Graha Maitri is said to be of superior class. If the rashi lords are neutral then it is considered mediocre and if the Rashi lords are enemies then it is considered bad on this count. Marriage astrology gives this Kuta a maximum score of 5.
Graha Maitri also shows the couple’s outlook, objective and intellectual scale. It governs the differences in behaviour, attitude and the relationship which the two partners have between each other. In a Kuta Milan this Kuta is considered rather important.
To get the score for the Graha Maitri kuta the Planetary lords of the Moon sign in the natal chart are considered and compared with each other. The 7 planets that can be the planetary lords are Surya or Sun, Chandra or Moon, Mangal or Mars, Budh or Mercury, Guru or Jupiter, Shukra or Venus and Shani or Saturn.Gana Compatibility
The Gana kutam of a Kuta match is related to the basic nature of the two people. This governs their temperament and plays a very important role in deciding how compatible they would be to each other. This Kuta is considered important for the long-lived happiness of the two people.
Indian marriage astrology divides the Gana into three classes according to the basic spiritual and material values. The Ganas are compared to each other and if the Man scores lower than the woman the Gana compatibility is said to be missing.
They are as follows:
Devata or Godly – This represents people who are more godly in nature and are spiritual. They may not be tuned to the material world so much.
Manushya or Mortal - A person falling in this Gana is balanced between the spiritual and the materialistic world.
Rakshasa or Demon - A person of this Gana is more materiastically tuned in the opinion of Vedic astrology.
The best match according to this Kuta is between people who have nakshatras that fall in the same category, example Manushya-Manushya. A Deva man can marry a Deva or Manushya woman, however the match is not good if the woman is of Rakshasa gana. A manushya man can marry a deva woman or a manushya woman, but is not considered favourable if marries a rakshasa woman. Basically the people of Rakshasa gana are compatible on this count only if they marry someone in their own category.
Since this is an important point it is given a maximum score of 6. The possible scores may be 6, 5, 1 or 0 according to the auspiciousness of the match. The minimum score of 0 is given when someone in the Rakshasa gana is matched with someone of a different Gana. Mismatched ganas yield quarrels, disharmony, and separation as per the vedic marriage match system.
Bhakut Compatibility or Rashi Kuta
The Bhakut or the Rashi Kuta (Astrology sign compatibility) takes in account the Moon signs of the two individuals. If the moon sign of the manis 2, 3, 5, 6 in position counting from the the woman, then the match fails on this kuta. If the count is something else then Rasi kuta matches. In a marriage kundli the rasi kuta indicates growth of family, family welfare and economic conditions of the partner.
This Astrology sign compatibility kuta is considered very important in a Kuta Match and is given a maximum score of 5.
